Curvy Couture Roadshow Comedown...

30 March 2014 was a day that will go down in Australian fashion history and myself and many other Australian women were lucky enough to be a part of such an amazing event for the plus size fashion industry. Curvy Couture Roadshow is a member of the Virgin Melbourne Australia Fashion Festival cultural program, its purpose was to introduce women to Australian and New Zealand plus size independent designers. Sponsored by Bella Model Management and fueled by the passion of all these fabulous designers and their belief in the plus size fashion industry is what made this all come together to create an outstanding day.

From the moment people started arriving the atmosphere was really buzzing, having met some of the lovely Aussie Curves members the night before everyone was excited about the day and to see what was in store for us curvy fashionistas.

Personally I had never been to a fashion show before but I read a lot of fashion magazines, blogs and websites to know enough of what it's all about so that for me it was really exciting to see real life curvy models work the catwalk.  Casey Donovan well known for her singing abilities and gorgeous curvy figure was MC for the day and did a brilliant job!

Robyn Lawley and Beyond the Sea Swimwear  kicked off the first runway of the day, the crowd let out cheers to see curvy gorgeous women, women that looked liked them on the catwalk in clothes they too could actually wear and relate to.

Meri by Design showcased amazing silk kaftans a sequined cape and wait for it a rabbit fur poncho!  I kept creeping back to their stall and tried on a kaftan, oh how I am lusting after one now.  Lucabella from New Zealand rocked everyday essentials, comfy trousers, winter coats and tees some really on trend pieces.

17 Sundays always bring colour every season, a funky matching skirt and blazer, slouch trousers and knee length dresses.  Harlow showed us their new season range including a pleather sleeved cardicost, printed maxi skirt and my fav a black blouse, along with the best selling wet and wild scuba leggings also worn by Casey.

Embody Denim worked the runway with their gorgeous range of denim for girls with curves, as well as pretty dresses and skirts.  Christine Kardashian designer of in-between fashion sizes 12 to 18 blew me away with her shawl blazer.

Sonsee kicked off the next runway and gosh I had goosebumps, the two models for the best tights I have ever worn owned the runway, cheers and screams were everywhere, both models named Jess smashed it on the runway, seriously amazing ladies! Miss Scarlett Did It followed again by gorgeous models in negligee, smokin hot!

Professor's Daughter were full of colour with gorgeous jackets, coats and dresses.  Bombshell Vintage looked amazing showing off their vintage atomic bombshell collection, lots of red and monochrome!

The last runway was modeled by hand picked first timers to the catwalk who all did an amazing job, they spent their weekends getting modelling lessons from the pros and the crowds support was awesome these girls also managed to have a great time on the runway too, not to mention a few Aussie Curves babes up there.

Curvy Chic Sports have comfortable sports wear for the sporty spice, yoga pants, stretchy tops they have it all.  Seraphim have an edgy look with hi-low peplum dresses and gold panelled maxis.  Misty Belvidere really stood out with their range of colourful dresses lots of yellow with metallic green you definitely wouldn't be missed in a crowd.

Marji & Jean have cool vintage dresses with amazing printed fabrics.  Hey Fatty had fun on the runway, they stock vintage and recycled plus size clothing I seriously have no idea where they find all their gems.  Fox Parse closed the runway with their new Modern Witchcraft collection including a pussy bow blouse and cool cape with matching skirt.

To cap off the end to a fantastic day Casey Donovan brought the house down with her single Big Beautiful and Sexy, which capped off what I think all the women there were feeling after seeing these amazing runways.

In between runways you had the opportunity to see, touch and try on items you may have liked on the runway at all the designers stalls, such a great idea and lots of women making purchases.

So much hard work went into the day by the committee and without them something like this wouldn't have been possible, so thank you from me and all the other women out there.  Bring on next year!!!!

Head on over to the Curvy Couture Roadshow Facebook page to keep up to date with anything and to see more fantastic pictures from the day.  You can also click on the links above to see what each designer has in their store.  Oh to see a recap of the runway watch Danimezza's great You Tube video here.  I will be doing a post of my CCR lust list shortly.

Did you attend and what stood out for you?
