REVIEW: Lactic Acid Peel - The Skin Boutique Australia

One week ago I experienced my first ever skin peel at The Skin Boutique Australia, in fact it was a first for anything on my face, I have never had a facial or microdermabrasion but so many women I know rave about these sort of facial treatments.

My skin has changed over the years, when I was a teenager I had an oily t-zone and had some acne and over the years with changes in climate and age it has now become what I would call normal, it is a little sensitive and dry and oily at times but most of the time I don't have any problems except...  large pores.  I used to be very aware and in secure at times about this but again with age have began to not worry so much plus with all the miracle primers and pore serums out there disguising them has become easier also.

I had a consultation with Vicky at The Skin Boutique and she recommended the 20% Lactic Acid peel for my skin and to help reduce the size of more pores.

What is Lactic Acid you ask?  I did!  Lactic Acid is derived from milk and is excellent at resurfacing the skin it also increases skin's moisture levels. As the uppermost layers are sloughed away, a smoother textured and healthier skin is revealed.

When the peel was applied it went tingly and a warm and was on my face for about 3 minutes.  Totally bearable and not painful in any way.

This picture was taken just after the peel was removed.  My skin felt tighter and looked brighter and I could see instant results.

Vicky sent me home with a care kit which I was to use for the next 5 days, it included a cleanser, serum, moisturiser and importantly sunscreen.  I admit I did have a little freak about not being able to do my ritual exfoliate every second day!

The next morning I woke up and sleepily inspected my skin expecting to see Samantha in Sex in the City and was blown away at the results I could see already, my pores really were visibly smaller, not only that by the time I did my little routine and applied the small amount of foundation I wear to work you couldn't even see my pores!

The past week I have stuck to my little take home pack and have finally been able to exfoliate which Vicky tells me should be done at night time before bed rather than in the morning which when you think about it totally makes sense. There was no Samantha scene and barely even noticed any skin peeling, if at all.

Verdict:  I loved it, 6 sessions is recommended for this type of treatment, Vicky said even after one I would see results and I did, my skin felt great and still does now 1 week later.  I will be treating myself to another peel very soon.

For those who regularly follow my blog, The Skin Boutique Australia is also where I get my laser hair removal that I also rave about to any one who will listen, they offer a huge range of treatments for everyone.

Have you ever tried any sort of skin peel?  Was it like Samantha or did you have great results like me?

x A
